Characteristics of Damon brackets
Damon Clear brackets are clear, making them much more aesthetically pleasing. They are made of clear ceramic, a material that maintains its transparency and does not stain or discolour when ingested with coffee or wine.

Damon Braces
They are a type of brackets that, unlike conventional brackets, do not require the use of rubber bands to attach the brackets to the archwire. These rubber bands or ligatures are replaced by a small clip-shaped piece located in the centre of the bracket in such a way that the high quality archwire is held by the bracket, exerting pressure on the dental piece until it reaches the desired position.
The Damon system, as with conventional brackets, offers different types of materials with the options of metal, clear and porcelain. The material does not influence the treatment mechanics, but only the desired aesthetics.
How are Damon braces fitted ?
- Initially, impressions are taken in the patient’s mouth to make a plaster model on which the brackets are then cemented. For this, the X-ray taken in the orthodontic study is used as a guide.
- Subsequently, it will be polymerised and a transfer splint will be made. In other words, a sleeve made of thermo-modellable plastic that allows us to carry out indirect cementation.
- Once the patient comes to the clinic, the surface of the tooth is prepared to improve the adhesion of the bracket. The tooth is washed and dried and then adhesive is applied to the surface of the tooth.
- Adhesive is also added to the bracket surface and the transfer splint is positioned on the tooth. It is polymerised with the help of a specific lamp for this process.
- Finally, the orthodontist will remove the transfer tray and clean the excess composite.
