What are theoverdentures?
The overteeth on implants fully or partially replace the lost teeth. With an overteeth you get a natural look and a firm bite. They therefore allow to recover the aesthetics and functionality of the mouth.
The overdentres are removable prostheses, which are placed on special implants with a system called locator (male-female), which confers a greater attachment to the prosthesis than the traditional removable ones that are simply based on the gums. They allow the patient to be comfortable and safe with the prosthesis and can also remove it, which facilitates its hygiene.
How do theoverdentures?
Depending on the patient’s needs, one of the two types of implant- supported overteeth will be offered, whether they are overteeth held by balls or overteeth held by bars. Both types are made from an acrylic base that is designed to resemble the gums and the porcelain or acrylic teeth to give a natural appearance of the tooth. In addition, the two types of overteeth held by implants need at least two dental implants to be installed in the jaw bone in order to provide sufficient support for overteeth.
The ball-held overteeth have an alveolo that is attached with up to five implants that have been placed in the mouth. Alternatively, bar-held overteeth include a thin metal bar that follows the jaw curve, with the implants that keep it in place by means of clips.
