Maxillary sinus lift
A sinus lift is a type of surgery that is performed when the patient needs more bone height in his or her jawbone in order to place an implant to replace the missing tooth. Beyond that, there are other cases in which a sinus lift is necessary.
Using the sinus lift technique, implants can be placed in the upper jaw area, thus allowing the lack of bone to be covered. With the sinus lift, a bone graft is placed to provide adequate volume for the dental implants to be supported.
When is sinus lift necessary?
If you are one of those people who have been wearing dentures for a long time, you should know that this is causing some reactions in your jawbone, such as the retraction of the bone itself.
Before performing a sinus lift, it is necessary to carry out various radiological studies in which digital and panoramic x-rays are obtained to allow us to clearly see the patient’s condition and the amount of bone he/she has.
This information will help you decide on one technique or another during the surgical process. The operation is performed under local anaesthesia and is usually very quick. In some cases, it is possible to place the dental implants immediately, while in more severe cases, where there is a greater lack of bone, it will be necessary to wait at least 6 months to place the implants later.

We have also developed conscious sedation, which consists of administering a mixture of Oxygen and Nitrogen Protoxide (also known as laughing gas) through a nasal mask. Thanks to this treatment, a state of comfort is achieved, but without the patient losing contact with the environment. It is therefore indicated for short procedures to improve the patient’s state of well-being and level of cooperation.
