Dental hygiene
Professional dental cleaning or prophylaxis is a treatment that helps to maintain the good health of our mouth. Its importance lies in the fact that during daily hygiene we cannot remove all food debris that tends to accumulate in areas that are less accessible to the toothbrush, such as molars or interdental spaces.
The cleaning carried out by our professionals lasts a minimum of 40-50 minutes and includes, in addition to an in-depth hygiene, a general check-up and an explanation of the healthy routines you should follow at home.
How is dental cleaning performed ?
- General check-up: At each hygiene session, the entire mouth is checked in order to prevent and detect certain diseases or asymptomatic problems.
- Ultrasound: By means of a small vibrating tip that sprays water under pressure, we remove the accumulated tartar, focusing especially on the areas that the patient has difficulty accessing with the brush.
- Brushing with special paste and aeropulper: We brush with the prophylaxis paste and the bicarbonate aeropulper to remove surface stains that may have stuck to the tooth (coffee, tobacco, tea…) and restore its natural whiteness.
- Dental floss: Slide the floss between the teeth without applying force. If the patient needs it and there is enough space between the teeth, we will also pass an interproximal brush of the appropriate calibre.
- Interproximal strips: With interproximal strips we remove the stains between the teeth that could not be removed in the previous procedure. In this way, we give the tooth its final shine.
- Fluoridation Flu oride not only leaves a pleasant taste in the mouth, but also increases the resistance of the tooth enamel. In this way, it will be more protected against the action of bacteria and will therefore be less likely to develop caries.
